By way of background, she has been a U.S. Immigration Judge since 2006. She has held a variety of roles during this time including Pro Bono Liaison Judge, contributing editor to the Immigration Judge Benchbook, Attorney Discipline Adjudicator, Chair, Immigration Court - Board of Immigration Appeals Precedent Committee, Mentor Judge, and Juvenile Docket Best Practices Committee. She is currently active in a variety of roles in the National Association of Immigration Judges (NAIJ), including as an officer handling Grievances and leading committees and working groups focusing on women’s issues and vulnerable populations cases. In her personal capacity, she is the President-Elect of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) Southern District of New York (SDNY) Chapter and Chair of the FBA SDNY Chapter Immigration Law Committee. She is Immediate Past Chair of the FBA International Law Section. She is a Member at Large of the National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) where she also serves as a member of the Human Trafficking Subcommittee. She is a Board Member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Immigration Law Section. Judge Tsankov serves as an adjunct faculty member of the Fordham Law School. She has published articles in the U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration Legal Advisor, and in various academic law journals. She speaks regularly before members of the immigration law community at international, national, and regional conferences.
